Individual mobility is what drives us. Discover the BMW Group’s largest engine plant worldwide and its Diesel Engine Development Centre.

Here, some 4,500 people bring their passion and strong innovative capabilities to developing the mobility of the future every single day – from innovative diesel and petrol engines to sustainable e-mobility components, like the housing for the latest-generation electric drive trains. More than 1.2 million engines and around 12.5 million core components – including connecting rods, cylinder heads, cylinder housings and crankshafts – are shipped from our plant in Steyr every year and installed in BMW and MINI vehicles. Our connecting rods are even built into Rolls-Royce power trains. This means roughly one in two BMW Group vehicles delivered to customers worldwide is now powered by an engine or components from our plant.
